Responsibilities
We have a brand-new full time RN Supervisor role for our Primary Care (Patient Outreach) clinic. This position is mostly remote. However, the position will require the RN to complete onsite (in-person) training and orientation for up to 3 months. This position also requires the RN to be onsite at the hospital campus once a month for leadership meetings. Provides supervision for daily operations of 20 Patient Outreach Telehealth (remote) RNs. Ensures optimal daily patient flow and allocation of resources to meet demand for services with available staff. Addresses patient care or service problems as necessary. In this Outpatient telehealth clinic, the RN will provide skilled comprehensive patient assessment, triage, education and coordination of healthcare and community resources for patients via telephone or other technological means. This professional telehealth registered nurse assesses/analyzes patient needs, identifies expected outcomes, collaborates, and communicates strategies with the patient to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure smooth flow of outpatient section operations by directing the work of clinic staff. Develop, modify, implement, and evaluate operational processes for the Patient Outreach Clinic. Assign and change priorities within the work unit to assure exceptional customer service. Act as a resource to staff, providers, and other personnel for all daily operational needs. Support the patient scheduling process, assessing patient flow and supply ordering.
- Manage master provider and/or ancillary service schedules to enhance productivity. Handle day-to-day patient satisfaction concerns. This position may require the RN to work as a staff RN Work as a registered nurse, providing direct patient care.
- Hire, train, supervise and discipline staff. Complete performance evaluations and competency assessments. Maintains and updates staff procedure manuals, staff training programs and quality assurance programs.
- Assists manager and section head with budget development and management. Assures cost-effective daily operations and allocation of section resource to optimize available staff with demand for service.
- Participates in improvement projects focused on achievement of annual goals and lean initiatives; ensures implementation of and adherence to improvement changes.
- Ensures compliance with state, federal and regulatory agency requirements for facilities, care and staff.
- Participates as a contributing member of section, department and VM-wide management team.
- Acts as a contributing member of team as needed to facilitate delivery of patient care.
Qualifications
Required:
- This position requires current WA State licensure as a registered nurse.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- BLS CPR is required every two years
- One (1)+ year(s) of increasingly responsible health care operations experience.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize the demands of daily operations and organize resources required.
- Also requires demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, active listening skills and conflict mediation ability.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and build effective teams also required.
Preferred:
BSN or related area preferred. Experience with Telehealth nursing. Familiarity with VMMC computer systems applications also preferred.
